Farewell Gorgeous George xx

I must say a very sad goodbye to Gorgeous George (racename George Washington) a magnificent son of Danehill who won the Phoenix Stakes & National Stakes in Ireland & 2000 Guineas & Queen Elizabeth II in England before his fragile temperament got the better of him. He'll probably be more famous for his flop year at stud although he may have a handful of mares in foal (details are sketchy but I live in hope) & the races he threw away by not being in a going mood but I'll never forget his brilliance as a two & three year old.

He tragically lost his life in Monmouth Park last night in the Breeders Cup Classic... although I can't help feeling he shouldn't even have been there. He was never going to like the sloppy conditions & didn't fire in the same race last year when more mentally stable but thats Coolmore for you. Cynics may even think they did it for the insurance money what with him being a dud at stud & all. Surely even they can't be that heartless?? The juries out on that one. Top Dog certainly thinks they couldn't ask for a better result. Not when they've the likes of Dylan Thomas on the roster.

And so I'm going back to my tears for THE single most sexiest horse (Lucarno being a distant second) in racing & the quirky enigma that was George. At least one person will miss you. Rest in peace gorgeous xx

Suprising Calm After An Agonising Defeat

Is there no justice in this world. Obviously God isn't a sporting person. Can you believe that in every discipline England was expected to win this weekend we failed? Actually yes I can. Of course the only sport I care about (second to horse racing) is F1 so I have spent the last two hours feeling sick watching Lewis trying to make history & more importantly win me a shed load of money. Of course he didn't but in the end that didn't even bother me.

I was so proud of the "british bulldog" spirit he showed to fight back from eighteenth position & forty seconds off the pace when he could have just thrown in the towel there & then to finish seventh & a heartbreaking 1pt adrift in the title race. Some of the decisions his team have made for him have puzzled me throughout the year as I (along with many others) believe they cost him the title a few races back.

However all of that doesn't detract from the fact that the boy is special & WILL win the championship if not next season, then one year in the near future. Sadly just not at the wonerful odds of 25-1. He'll never start that long a price ever again - argh!!! Mind you watch out for Nico Rosberg & Nelson Picquet Jnr as they are future champions (probably at tasty odds) waiting to happen.

Still, I hope you all had a good weekend despite our lack of sporting prowess. Ciao for now

Mixed Fortunes

While my Lewis bet suffered what could turn out to be a devastating blow yesterday in China the magnificent steed that is Dylan Thomas (above) won th Arc in France by a fast diminishing margin but he has had a very hard season. So called wonder horse Authorized was beaten out of sight which I said would happen all along & got funny looks for. He was never an Arc horse. I just got this feeling & I try not to ignore my instincts especially when it comes to horses & bets!

Anyway our syndicate had the gorgeous Dylan as a 12-1 ante post bet as Top Dog agreed with me that it was too tempting a price NOT to have a punt way back in the beginning of August. No the wonder I have a Cheshire cat like grin today! It also means I can round off my time with the guys with a win. With my share I'm putting down a deposit on the Dior watch I enquired about last week. I also have hopefully (not helped any by this bloody postal strike) paid off my credit card bill in full with Lucarno's Leger money so I still have a healthly looking racehorse fund. Well I could afford a cheap grade F all weather claimer at any rate. But I'd still love him all the same.

Ciao for now xx

Wow

Ok so Im dancing about with excitement having seen the first trailer for Johnny D's upcoming movie, Sweeney Todd. I've been waiting three years for this. I love Tim Burton & when he pairs Johnny D with Helena Bonham Carter its always a good thing. But thats not what was "wow". Wow was a picture I have come across yet coz I didn't spend hours trawling for it but have you seen Ray Winstone in his upcoming movie Beowulf. Fuck me where did he get that six pack from?! The last I saw of him he was slightly overweight (but in a way that suits only him) then he vanished for a while - to the gym obviously - & now he's looking absolutely ... well Wow. I mean I thought him hot without the new look but now?? Wild horses won't keep me from seeing his movie!! TJ

Congratulations & Rules Are Rules

My boss J's daughter got engaged last night & she's gone all nightmare mother of the bride to be. I can't cope with this for the next year or so. The happy couple haven't set a date yet but now J's got her daughter married off she's gunning for me & was on the phone to her mate again about this P. I didn't have a chance to find out what was said as I have been crazy busy in a different office all day, though I can feel the control of my life slipping away from me once more!

Other than busy I have been amusing myself by pissing everyone off by following office rules to the letter. I just felt like it today. It was worth their grumbling when this notorious school secretary attempted to shout at me coz she cancelled two busses which I admit was through no fault of her own but then again we have turned other jobs away coz she had these buses booked out.

I say attempt coz as it's the run up to PMT week she didn't stand a chance. I politely but firmly explained that rules are rules, I did not make them, I merely enforced them. Then she said schools can't afford the cancellation fees & I pointed out that they were cheaper than the price she would have paid for using the bus proper. She didn't like that either & hung up. Hehe. It felt good giving her a taste of her own medicine.

And finally joke of the day goes to AT. A young lad walks in on his mam & dad shagging like rabbits. His dad tells him to get out & the boy leaves. Twenty minutes later the dad is walking past the boy's room & hears a right commotion. He opens the door to find his son shagging grandma. "What the hell is going on?! shouts the dad. "See, you don't like it when its your mother," replied the boy.

Hmm wasn't too sure whether to laugh or feel sick with that one. Still the guys found it amusing for a short space of time & that's all that matters right??

Ciao for now

D'ville:- While I liked the Redback colt you do on looks alone, his dam is unproven & you really want to be looking at established lines when it comes to breeding a winning racehorse. Trust me when I say winners breed winners. I like the Spice Girls coz I have been brainwashed by their message of "Girl Power" since I was an impressionable youth! On another note, ar e you ok? You haven't done a entry for a while. I keep thinking you might have decided on your vacation destination but you keep leaving me little love notes! Kisses, Eb

Girl Power Rules - Of Course! & Meddling Old Dears

I'm over joyed that tickets for the Spice Girls London 15 Dec date have sold out within 38 seconds. Yeah read it & weep people. Even The Rolling Stones & Madonna's latest tours couldn't manage that. Consequently three more dates have been added.... tickets are apparently going on ebay for £750. I'd so be there if I could actually get the bloody time off work. Oh well. Guess I'll just have to console myself with the DVD they'll bring out.

My ears should have been burning yesterday as the friend of my boss J was talking - scratch that - gushing about how nice I am, well dressed, polite, pretty etc then she mentioned her son P & in that moment my boss knew she was trying to set me & her son up. I've never met the guy & hate blind dates so meeting him won't happen unless he specifically seeks me out or is at one of my bosses infamous bbq's.

If it's the same guy I'm thinking of all I've heard about him is he is 26, is a scaffolder, is thinking about going back to college & was in a serious motor bike crash about nine months ago. My boss is all for setting me up but like I saiy, I hate blind dates. AT said he might be "the one" so I should just go for it. Luckily I never take his advice & consultated AF who said I should follow my heart. Usually great advice but not during PMT week. You REALLY don't want to know what my heart is telling me to do!

D'ville:- Sorry to hear about the food poisoning but that sounds like something I would do when meeting a guys mates or family for the first time. I like her already! Did you get a chance to look at that syndicate? The downside is there were no prices which is ALWAYS a bad sign. The yearlings look mighty tasty though, especially the One Cool Cat filly & the Captain Rio x Victoria's Secret colt.
