We're Going Through Changes....

First things first: I have been dying of flu all week but still have to drag myself to work each day, unlike th emen in our company. Grr.

On to the main bit. A LOT has happened since I could last be bothered to do an entry mostly stuff I can't talk about yet but I can say I have finally been given a payrise effective from Decemeber this year, a new job, job title (still to be decided!) & my very own admin assistant. I still work for the same company its just we are ever expanding & some new contracts are going to be coming off in January so we are having a bit of a re-shuffle staff wise. Well ok only myself & R are being moved but y'know! This means I'll hardly get to see R during work hours anymore as he'll be out on the road all day but I'm sure we'll make time for each other.

Tonight I had to work late at our AGM but it was worth it to see my hot blast from the past (who has graced this blog before). Turns out he's recently got married which makes him off limits as I do have morals. However on the plus side I can perv over him on a regular basis because as of tonight he's joined our Committee. Thank fuck for that. A young point of view & one that we can persuade to do the things we want not what the Committee think we should do. Like I said; changes.

A brief word about my admin assistant. She's 23, a petite blonde with a wicked sense of humour & I love her personality wise. Turns out we already kinda know each other coz we went to the same secondary school & she knows the guys I used to be mates with & also we've seen each other out & about down the town. Mostly when slaughtered so we can't remember what we've talked about in the past but we know its usually in the toliets! Speaking of slaughtered: we are out Fri night to celebrate my payrise & her getting her new job so it should be fun. I can't wait!

Ciao for now

A Sad Farewell To My Joint Fave Grey

Im sad today for my joint fave NH grey, Detroit City (the other being Monet's Garden) was tragically killed in a fall at the first flight of hurdles in his debut race of the season at Ascot. I knew as soon as he was on the deck he was done for. Years of watching NH racing helps you recognise fatal falls, as horrid as that maybe. Im not sure what he died of yet because Im too upset to find out.

What made Detroit special was he not only won the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival but he carried top weight to victory in the Greatwood H'cap Hurdle & won a Cesarewitch H'cap ran on the Flat. You don't get too many horses that can do those things. Yes he disappointed on his last two runs of last season but thats racing. After the breathing operation he had in the summer I was looking forward to seeing him return to his best.

My heart goes out to the Hobbs team & of course his owners who lost another old fave of mine, the brave grey Rooster Booster; the humble H'cap Hurdler that became a Champion. I imagine Detroit & Rooster are happily racing each other across the stars as I type. Rest in peace pretty one xx

Pain, Pens, Changes & Bribes

Well I spent a torrid weekend in bed in absolute agony in my back & hip. Or it could have been my pelvis. I don't know, I'm not a doctor & spent most of my time in a morphine based painkiller induced sleep. My friend gave me her highly recommended pills & while they worked a treat I still felt spaced out at work today thanks to them. I couldn't be a drug addict, I hate not being in control.

Anyhoo hopefully my blog is back. I haven't wrote in a while coz I had a few weeks off & therefore had no reason to moan & then I went straight on my four day first aid course, which I managed to pass by some small miracle. However don't expect me to treat you if you have an accident coz I hate the sight of nlood or broken/fractured bones.

There are massive changes afoot at work but thats all I can say at this stage as only myself, E & j are privvy to whats going on but I can say on a un-related topic: the Director that hates me is getting his own way re NVQ's only I'm not the only one that's doing it. There'll be eight of us. J went ape shit & stomped out of the office when she found out today, much to our amusement. Like I said before, while I don't want to do it I will.... but only coz I have been promised a payrise as a bribe. Now I've signed on the dotted line for the NVQ it'll be fascinating to see how long it takes for said rise to come through. My bet is never, in which case there'll be serious hell on especially when this Director is getting a big bonus for signing us all up.

God I can't wait for my holiday at new year. Oh and while I was away we have got some "posh" new pens with our company name, motto (which is incorrect!), tel no & email addy printed on them in shiny gold writing on a deep ruby red background. Oooh. They write shit (Im a Bic ballpoint kinda girl) but look the part. I tell ya we're going up in the world people! Ciao for now

Spot The Champ & No I Ain't Dead - Honest!

One of my favourite horses in training, grand old boy (he's 14) Spot Thedifference added yet another Sporting Index XC Chase to his win tally despite being out in front from a long way out which he doesn't overly like after the three horses ahead of him took the wrong course. He's now won over this unique course seven times. Surely its got to be time to rename the race "Spot Thedifference Sporting Index XC Chase".

Of course my absolute joy so nearly turned to devastation when he seemingly collapsed after the winning post whilst being pulled up. However although the screens went up around him & a deadly hush settled over the CHeltenham crowd, he was back on his feet in a few minutes.

It turned out he didn't collapse or as I suspected had a heart attack (wouldn't you having just completed nearly four miles as an old man?!) but he'd slipped on muddy ground while trying to pull up. It wasn't the biggest race of the year by any means but even at the Festival proper in March you'll be hard pushed to find a louder cheer or emphatic clapping as a horse makes its way into the winner's enclosure. I could go on forever about Spot but I'll save it for my other Greatest Racehorse blog sometime!
