History Repeating & Goodbye & Good Luck MR!!

Aah, my favourite ever picture of Johnny D as a pirate. Gaze upon his god-like form.... sorry, I'll get back to business. Ok so I've mentioned before that we are getting a new computer system in thats all singing, all dancing. However what TN let slip yesterday was that I'd be the sole operater, taking all the bookings. I'm not happy. If I wanted a call centre job, I'd be in bloody call centre for a hell of a lot more money. There's no way I'm giving up the accounts side & becoming a Customer Service Agent. After all, time & money has been spent on my accountancy training - why waste that?!

God knows what J will make of it all when she finds out although somethings gnawing at me; I thinking she's the one that told TN I'd be the system operator. I'm going to go ape shit because no one had bothered to consult me first. They are all just assuming I'll do it & fall into line meekly.

Considering I walked out of my last job I really don't give a fuck about meek. I can only be pushed so far before I snap.

On another note, I was right - MR has gone. He's moved to a posh office in Doxford Park. He left because he was being charged astronomical rent for the two rooms he had. The plush new place at Doxy is cheaper & way more stylish apparently. He's invited us to visit him at any time & believe me I intend to take him up on that offer!

Anyhoo, Im going to calm down now as I get ready for a night out with my work mates to belatedly celebrate my bday. Oh and as I have eaten half of my delicious bday cake I can safely say that I was right; it IS better than sex.

Ciao for now x

That Wall Looks Mighty Tempting, Oops, Promotions? & The Big Question

First things first. Doesn't this guy just rock?? I even have it on male authority he's good looking. And yes the males in question are perfectly straight. I'm liking this new breed of guy that aren't afraid to admit another guy is handsome. Girls do it all the time with fellow females.

I felt like banging my head off a brick wall in an effort to numb the pain today because I've been hard at work correcting all the mistakes my protege made on this Inland Rev claim. All this work for a few measly hundred quid.

Luckily I didn't because two lots of hell broke out after lunch. Two buses had to be pulled off the road. The first one was R's who's exhaust fell off. This wasn't that a big a deal to be honest because its an old 10 seater anyway & he can swap it with one of the newer ones. However, our new volunteer AC topped every breakdown we have had in our entire history. The back door of his large 16 seater fell off & was lying in the road. I don't know if everyone is familiar with the type of buses we have but this particular one is an Iveco converted from its original van like state. In other words, they are quite large.

How this door fell off is a mystery. The only saving grace is that it was empty at the time. It hasn't been made clear whether AC was moving or stationery at the time of incident and the driver is behaving rather sheepishly. Anyway the bus was taken to the garage & JK hopes it will be fixed before J & E are back so he won't have to tell them about it. They get back tomorrow.

He's dreaming. Anyway I pointed out that he'd have to tell them about it regardless because we'd be getting an invoice through from the garage for the repair work. Idiot. I might cover up a lot of things & turn a blind eye to a lot of things but even I can't ignore or cover up this one.

I considered a change of job, working for a charity I support doing exactly the same as I do now, for more money but less hours. However it got pointed put to me by the guys that with us getting a new Office Manager & J declaring she'd leave if she didn't get the job & we ever got an outside Manager in, there just might be a Finance Manager position to fill. Logically you'd think as Finance Officer I'd be considered for promotion... but logic in this place doesn't exist. Besides if I left I'd miss my work mates. God love 'em & that's the first time in all my working life I've been able to say that.

Finally: - The BIG question. Has MR been evicted or not? He wouldn't tell us anything except after I'd cornered him in the corridor when he came out his office he said "you won't see me after today". Then he strode off because he was going home. There hasn't been any "moving out" like activity so the guys think he may just be going on vacation. But they don't understand. MR always tells us where he's going if he's off on his hols. Beside he could have moved his stuff out before we open up in the mornings or after we've gone at night. I tried to call the site manager but he'd already gone home for the day. Fingers crossed tomorrow will shed more light on the mystery.

Captain Jack's Back May 23rd 2007

Oh my god I can't wait! I had a rant all ready to go, till I was emailed a link to the up coming Pirates 3 movie The Worlds End & suddenly all my anger washed away. Captain Jack / Johnny D has that effect on me. Its almost worth going to see the movie 300 down our local cinema for the Pirates 3 trailer on the big screen they are showing prior to 300 itself.

Happy Birthday To Me!

Ok so its my birthday today. I'm 24 - fast track to 30 from here on in & I'm getting rather anxious about that thought actually so I'll change the subject to presents!

I got loads of chocolate in various guises (it's great having a biday now coz its only a few weeks to Easter & yet more chocolate!) from my aunts on my mam's side of the family & from the guys at work along with a few bottles of German wine. I've never had it before but have been assured it's very nice by JK, our resident wine expert.

I also got a diamante teddy bear brooch from J & E, a Xmas cactus from D my protege which I have named Red because of the colour of his flowers and a large glass jewellery box from T. Im annoyed at him for spending so much on me & it's not even a significant bday but bless him anyway xx

I also came home to a parcel which contained a bottle of champagne from a mystery person although I have an idea who sent it. From my nana (my mam's mother) I got some money & she will be getting a CD for me but it's not being released until 2nd April.

From my sister I got some more chocolate but we hardly speak to each other so I suspect my mam bought them & is pretending my sister did purely in am effort to keep the family together, bless her heart for trying but it's a lost cause! From my mam I got a Radley handbag & a ring holder in the shape of a shoe. Its gold satin (to match my room colours) & black lace & is really girly & pretty though it doesn't fit in with the Egyptian theme within my room but then neither does a Johnny Depp as a pirate, nodding figurine & a Johnny Depp calendar!

You may notice my dad is missing from this list. Shameful isn't it? Especially when I used to be Daddy's princess. Still he is paying for my bday meal out tonight but I do that every year & it isn't considered a present: more of a tradition.Oh & he did fix my bedroom clock for me though my mam's already tried everything regarding that so it will stop again soon I'm sure. Not getting anything from him hurt, more so when he didn't even bother to say happy birthday to me before I left for work.

I was actually going to moan that I had to work on my bday while everyone else on the admin side of the company has a day off but I can't be arsed now so I'm off to get ready for my meal out.

Oh I almost forgot! - I also got a fabulous Thornton's chocolate bday cake from my mam. It looks absolutely yummy! I can't wait to have a piece. Mmm ... chocolate. And yes boys, it WILL be better than sex!

My Baby Is Back Home Where He Belongs

God it feels like I've been gone for ages. My computer (thats who the heart is for - to keep him on side for a while!) decided to blow his power pack in the base unit a few weeks ago. I had to wait for my dad to come back home from work (he works away) to fix it. If I'd have known all he'd do was take the blasted thing to the local computer shop I'd have done it myself two weeks ago! Jeez.

Anyhoo Im back so I can rant until my heart desires. Just as well because a lot has happened in fourteen days & I haven't been able to vent my frustrations, which is seriously affecting my general well being. So what follows is a brief overview of the type of stuff I've had to endure:-
Our bosses E & J are on their hols in Benidorm (lucky buggers) which means I am in charge. It would be great if pwople did as they were asked but they don't. Im thinking of D & R in particular.

D - she is so childish it is beyond belief. No one believes me when I say what she's been up to because she's as demure as you like when they are around. I was never that immature when I was eighteen, which all serves to make me feel old & its not even my bloody birthday yet.

Sadly you missed out on some hella good Cheltenham tips (like L'antartique 20-1 /Ingles Drever 5-1 / Massini's Maguire 20-1 & Burntoakboy 10-1) although the office boys were kept fully informed. So here's to a good run at Aintree next month. Our inter syndicated competition results were as follows:-

Top Dog ----- 7 individual winners ----- £508 won

TJ ---- 6 individual winners ----- £653.50 won

Mini Cooper ----- 4 individual winners ----- £500.25 won

As its the winners that count, not the kudos, it means Top Dog wins this round. Bastard. After much deliberation we decided to take £542.75 (of the total £941.75 won) forward to Aintree as our starting capital and split the £399 between us to spend however we like. Im spending my £133 share on some new shoes & I plan to pay the rest of my credit card bill off which is far to sensible an idea for me!

Finally I come to R. Long story made much shorter - we are locked in a private war. I don't know what started it but so far R is winning but don't worry I'll soon redress the balance of power.

Ciao for now xx

The Burning Question

Today was very slow regarding paper work & general office duties but incredibly hectic phone wise. So in between the calls we have been pondering how long do you stay in a dead end job? As in we are all at the top of our ladder within this organisation but in the grand scheme of things world wide are pretty low down the pecking order. There is absolutely no chance of promotion in any of our respective fields which is what sparked this debate.

I have been here 18 months & have been "promoted" (I use inverted commas as its in title only. My wages do not reflect my position which hasn't helped my mood on this subject) twice. Im nearly 24 which isn't too bad but I dont want to be in this same position at 30. Our T (who is 38) popped in for a cuppa as he was tired of taking part in the debate via MSN. He is also sick of the lack of opportunities in this place so we have come up with a plan. We are going to set up on our own.

Only our company wont be transport based. We're going into the Leisure Industry:- pole dancing joints (R), strip clubs (JK) bars & coffee houses (T), brothels (B) and the Security marketplace:- private bodyguards consisting of ex army personnel. Needless to say Im in charge of that branch of the company.

Meanwhile back in the real world we have decided that as I have the most potential (IE im the youngest) that by the time Im 35, I have to be either running this show or out of here otherwise I'll never leave & therefore better myself. However I am scared of taking risks regarding my happiness. I don't like looking foolish or admitting I got it wrong either. T is going as soon as he is better & comes off long term sick or by the time he's 40; whichever is soonest - which ironically leaves a promotion opportunity for one of the guys.

R who tends to be all talk & no trousers will never leave. Neither will JK. Im not so sure about B but myself (who walked out of her last job after a big argument with the line manager - god it felt so good! - having convinced myself over a period of 2 months that I was worth more) & T definitely want more out of our so called careers so watch this space. A combined bistro/officers mess may be coming to a town near you!

Updates More Than A Rant

I havent ranted in a while because my computer kinda blew up on me last Tuesday & although I can use my dad's computer it doesn't feel right ranting on it. Weird I know but thats just me. However after a week of bottling up all my gripes, I just had to start typing. I have had a splitting headache all day which also hasn't helped improve my mood. Slightly narked that I didn't get invited to AF's birthday night out on Sat 24 Feb. I know I was off work 21-23rd but they still could have text me. Men. Useless.

Someone whom I can only assume was deadly drunk, declared their undying love for me on Friday gone. At least I hope he was drunk. Eek! Also had to do some babysitting on Sat as a favour (IE upaid) for a friend. Not a problem really coz the kids aged 4 & 6 are well behaved & do what they're told - a novelty I know.

As I say, I didn't mind till the pair of them rolled in totally hammered at nearly 5am Sunday morning. I was absolutely knackered. Suffice to say I stayed over coz they didn't surface till about 12.30pm the next day & the poor kids needed feeding etc. Thats the last time I do him a favour I can tell you. He did promise to make it up to me at some point but I seriously doubt that.

And finally, as its the greatest show on Earth (Cheltenham Festival) next week the evening beforehand I shall put my personal selections for each race up for all to see. We have a little betting syndicate for such big occasions so while I am stuck at work, the rest of my group are living it up at Cheltenham. Grr. Wish I had flexi time!

Anyhoo I have a bet (or maybe two if i really can't split them) in every race though the guys do not. I shall also publish their bets if they are known by the time I go to press as it were. I wouldn't take too much notice of them though as they usally rely on my tips to get us out the shit each & every year. Hehe. Last year a fantastic time was had by all (except me i was working) & we ended up showing a £786 profit which we kept for the next big festival: Aintree in April. Guess it'll be more of the same this time too. Mind you we showed a nice profit up until "Glorious" Goodwood where we lost the lot. I can't figure out Goodwood for the life of me.

Still, life would be boring if you knew everything & on that note, I'll say ciao for now.
