09.02.08 A Future Champion Is Born

My fave race mare of recent times (ok ok she's joint equal with Bosra Sham!) Ouija Board has had her first foal. A colt by the mighty USA based sire Kingmambo who commands a mind boggling fee of $250k for one shot of spunk. Really puts the human male species into prospective doesn't it??

Anyway he looks a carbon copy of herself & I always thought her very pretty (see above). This foal will be so valuable its unreal. I hope Lord Derby keeps him & races him for at least three years because the racing scene needs a new champ.

For her next foal Ouija is off to Monsun sire of the recent top colts Manduro & Shirocco with another hefty stud fee of 120k euro's (approx £84k) though this may rise to 150k in the next few years. He is a top German middle distance horse. Nothing but the best for this girl. I can't wait to see this baby either. Roll on 2009!

Im In Mourning

Im upset. As I was walking down my estate to my house tonight, I saw that the owner of one of the bungalows at the top of the street had cut down & removed my favourite tree. It was 7ft tall & looked like a ferny christmas tree though I don't know what it really was. I've watched him grow from a tiny little foot high sapling for the past fifteen years. Im heartbroken. Ok so he (I always thought of it as a "he" since I first clapped eyes on it at age ten) was rather wide & bushy but a little trim kept him in check. Im so sad & very angry. He had no right to destroy a perfectly healthy tree. I always wanted a tree like him & now Im even more determined than ever to have one. Rest in peace my friend.

Im In Love: Episode 3

With Denman (pic above) this time. With ears pricked he dismissed his decent rivals in the Grade 2 Aon chase at Newbury this arvo. Even making a mistake that would have floored any other horse, this monsterous giant didn't loose any momentum. He is simply breathtaking & always gives me butterflies when I watch him. Roll on Cheltenham. I'm sorry Kauto but a new star is born.

Ciao for now

Im In Love: Episode 2

This time its with a person. And its not myself - though I do have to confess that I am pretty taken with me! So guys the very thing you've dreaded from day one is upon us... TJ has gone fairly mushy. Thats not to say soft re incompetant colleagues etc but I may be guilty of a megawatt grin when thinking of said person - hey baby! x - as opposed to my normal smile. And as one idiot (who shall remain nameless for his own protection) put it:- "its like watching a man eating tiger behaving like a fluffy kitten". Not sure if he meant it in a good way or bad. Still, I don't care.

Well Im off to the movies (Cloverfield) with my mam. While my dads away the girls shall play. At least until Friday afternoon when he returns to wreck our weekend fun. Oh well.

Ciao for now

I'm In Love

My kick ass gun metal metallic shoes have finally arrived. They are simply devine & I can't wait to wear them. Shame I have to wear black to work. Grr

In other news that I really should have said last week but couldn't be arsed, the new lad, T we started ... well he quit after two and a half days. JK got a £20 payout from the office sweepstakes for this amazing bit of foresight. I don't relish the new plan J has for our next assistant but I can't anything til at least 3rd March. Except I am not happy but then when am I ever?!

Also I am apparently moving across to our new premises next Thursday... alone. Oh just had a thought, thats Valentine's day isn't it? Anyway I'm over the moon coz no one can call us as they don't have our new contact details yet so it'll mean a nice quiet few days for me. Plus I get to see AF who I ain't seen for two weeks coz he's been decorating the new place. The downside is I'll be trying to avoid being alone with my unwanted admirer. Still, I'm sure AF will protect me. He usually does!

And finally as Valentines day fast approaches I have been employed to write the guys love poems for their significant others and for someone that doesn't do soppy I made up some pretty good stuff if I don't say so myself. My inspiration?? My beloved shoes as mentioned above of course. Sorry guys!

Derren Brown - The "System"

Derren Brown - The Conman.

"System" my arse. It was a pyramid scheme. I heard of a slightly more plausible system when in Tenerife but Im not convinced. There is no such thing as a "system". There are just far too many variables when it comes to living breathing creatures like do they like the going / trip/ track /weather conditions / jockey / tack. Do they even feel like racing today? Maybe they just want to go back to their stable & sleep instead. You can never tell with horses. They have their own minds & they WILL use them!

I mean between the three of us in my ex-syndicate we went through the entire card on more than one ocassion at big meetings & not just by backing the favourite (as per the Tenerife system I mentioned above). Our three wildly different ways of selecting horses just kinda worked when combined together & although I know both of their personal "systems", Im sticking to how I pick my tips. IE keeping faith & following my heart & gut instincts.

Which reminds me - Knowhere EW in the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Act now & you may still be able to get odds of 100-1. Think he's generally 40's now though.

Anyway I wasted an hour of my life watching his shit this morning & he chose Marodima in the final showdown at Sandown on 8th Dec 07 just like I did. Ooooh does that mean I should be on tv too with a sham "system"? No it does not. I really can't stand that man. He ruins the notion of magic & illusions for me I don't want him crossing over into my beloved Sport of Kings.

Oh and he's a smug bastard & I hate that in a man.
