Holidays From Hell Part 2 & By Jove She's Got It

The subject of holidays reared its ugly head again. I'm the only one not to have put in a request form for my main holiday. The only time I have booked off so far is 5 days over New Year & a day off for my sisters graduation in July although I'm possibly looking at a week off in the back end of August. The reason the hoo ha started again is because J's looking for another hokiday - possibly another week in Benidorm - but she can't say when for. She issued a statement to me this morning that I might not get the week I want off it it clashes with hers. this didn't bother me coz I'm past caring now but it narked the boys. Their loyalty is sweet.

Their argument was its unfair to me coz J's alreay had two holidays this year & has her main one booked for September which is when I wanted to go away in the first place but couldn't because of her & then I couldn't even have the 3rd & 4th week of September as JK sneaked his in for then. Even this doesn't bother me now though it did at the time.

She also said I wasn't going to be allowed to use all my days up in February either. Im sorry but who the fuck made her God? This bit pissed me off. I mean just when CAN I take time off & how come no one else gets told when they can / can't be off? ANd why can't I have my main hols in feb when she can have two weeks at the end of March when its Year End closing time & everyone goes into panic mode coz they ain't been invoiced by us yet & they have to close their accounts too & Im left to deal with all the flack?! Funnily enough she had no answers to my questions. As D said yesterday; its one rule for her & another four us. And you know the worst part? You can't even complain to management coz effectively she IS the management.

On the subject of D (who was at college today) she is on her final warning for time keeping & just seems to always bring trouble upon herself: as in she left a list of dates when we are fully booked out on her desk. I mean us old hands automatically know we are fully booked up until after the schools break up in late July so no one's got a cat in hells chance of getting anything till after then. Anyway J hit the roof, ranting that how the hell did D know when we are fully booked & that its not her place to decide if we are fully booked or not - so D's going to get it in the neck tomorrow. Being the nice, kind person I am I text her a warning to be prepared for one hell of a barrage from J.

I didn't totally escape Js wrath though - I got a mild telling off for giving drivers their worksheets coz its JKs job. But I pointed out that when he's vanished without a trace & the drivers are due out on said job, what am I supposed to do?! I can't just tell them to piss off, which is effectively what I've been told to do. I mean how are the drivers supposed to know where they are going if they aren't told & who will be the one to deal with moaning clients when they aren't picked up?? Me. Sometimes a bit of flexibility within the workplace goes a long way. You can't stick rigidly to job descriptions coz the working world would collapse without people covering each others jobs now & again.

On a lighter note T brought me the other cds he promised me; The Barber of Seville & a box set containing Wagners, The Rhinegold / Valkyre / Siegfried & Twilight of the Gods, which I KNOW didn't come cheap. So thank you babes. Even if I was less than enthusiastic at first, I'm sure you'll convert me yet! xx

Ciao for now

TJ
